125 truth or dare questions: funny, clean and made for online chats

Truth or dare is one of the oldest party games, and it still works because it mixes two things people love: stories and silliness. You pick “truth” and answer a question honestly, or pick “dare” and do a small challenge.

Everything below is clean and works with friends or with someone you have just met. There are separate dares for playing in person and for playing over video or text, where you cannot hand anyone a spoon of mustard.

Rules that keep it fun

  • Anyone can pass. Agree at the start that a player can skip any question or dare, no explanation needed.
  • Nothing dangerous, nothing cruel. Dares should be silly, not risky or humiliating.
  • With strangers online, keep personal details out. Never ask for or share a real name, address, school, workplace, phone number or social media account, and never dare someone to show or send anything private.
  • Take turns fairly. Whoever answers or completes a dare chooses the next player.

Where to play with someone new

Truth or dare is a great way to break the ice with a stranger, as long as both of you keep it light. In a random video chat or text chat, suggest one round and let the other person choose truth or dare first. If they are not into it, move on: would you rather questions and this or that questions are easier warm-ups. If anyone pushes for something private or explicit, end the chat and use Report or Block.
